PURPOSE:
To create an understanding of the mentoring processes and equip mentors and mentees / protégés with interactive skills.
Enable both parties to have a fruitful mentoring relationship.
OUTCOMES:
- Know and understand the concept of mentorship and the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders.
- The benefits for mentoring for all stakeholders
Be able to:
- Develop ground rules and objectives to steer the mentoring process
- Develop and enhance your interactive skills
- Improve the effectiveness of mentoring discussions and interaction
- Identify and analyze learner needs/problems and decide on appropriate action
- Provide advice and support to mentees
- Refer learner to specialist guidance and counseling services when required
- Demonstrate tasks in a practical manner & provide opportunities for learners. Explain the elements of a task to be performed & provide opportunities for learners to practice
- Maintain record of interaction with learner and evaluate own performance
- Source and maintain information to assist and support learners
- Prepare and review an individual development plan
