PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD This Unit Standard was designed to assist learners who are about to embark on careers, or learners who are faced with a work change, to explore the world of work and select a work path or type of employment including self employment. It is intended for the unemployed, out of school youth and employees faced with a change in employment status. It could be included as an elective in any workplace qualification. The qualifying learner is capable of: Investigating possible employment opportunities in own area. Investigating the requirements for specific work opportunities. Matching own personal profile to career and labour market opportunities. Demonstrating knowledge and understanding the process of accessing work/income-generating opportunities.
