PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD This unit standard is intended for new entrants to the Wholesale and Retail sector. Persons credited with this standard function under general supervision and carry out established and familiar procedures in familiar environments. These persons will be able to maintain a safe and secure environment in the workplace. Persons credited with this unit standards will also be prepared to respond to an emergency situation and incidents should they arise in the wholesale or retail environment. They are also responsible for maintaining customer safety and well being. This unit standard excludes any learning relevant to hygiene and housekeeping and retail security aspects dealing with shoplifters and burglary.
