There are more than 28 million Sassa grant beneficiaries in South Africa. Sassa has confirmed how much grant beneficiaries will be paid - and what the grant payment dates will be - in June 2026. 

The main purpose of the Unemployment Insurance Fund is to offer short-term financial support to its contributors should they ever become unemployed. Beneficiaries are encouraged to regularly check the progress of their payments to stay up to date with their claim status.

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has uncovered widespread maladministration in the awarding of government bursaries by the Free State Office of the Premier, including funding awarded to foreign nationals, relatives of officials and even a deceased student.

Labour Minister Nomakhosazana Meth has announced a R350 million investment aimed at creating learning and employment opportunities for young South Africans.
