Occupational Certificate: Telecommunications Cable Jointer
Overview
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to function as a Telecommunications Cable Jointer. A Telecommunications Cable Jointer joints, terminates and maintains telecommunications copper and fibre optic cables installed in underground pipes, trenches, and overhead systems.
A qualified learner will be able to:
• Install and joint underground and aerial telecommunication cables.
• Terminate cables and perform cable splicing operation.
• Perform basic fault-finding and troubleshooting on telecommunications cables joints.
• Complete telecommunication cables jointing documentation.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Matric/Grade 12 or
A recognized NQF Level 4 qualification.
