...moreIn the new post-industrial era, the ‘book value’ of a company no longer has very much to do with its tangible assets. An analysis of today’s billion Rand acquisitions usually reveals that less than 10% of a company’s purchase price (in some cases as little as 3%) has anything to do with its buildings and equipment. The other 90% lies in its intellectual assets.
Over the last two decades, many well-known companies have shifted their efforts away from manufacturing, by outsourcing to suppliers and lower-wage economies, while they concentrate instead on leveraging their learning.
Thus the only form of organisational capital that has any lasting value in the new economic era is intellectual capital: human capital. As Winston Churchill said, “The empires of the future will be empires of the mind.”
Executive education is pursued by dynamic managers who seek careers as senior executives in South Africa. They may take courses and programmes in Personnel Management, Project Management, Production and Supervision, Risk Management, Economics and Finance, Marketing and Sales, Business Writing, Corporate Governance and more.
Business leaders may also seek executive education in the place of an MBA, as it is less time consuming and does not demand rigorous academic entrance requirements.
Managers attend executive education programs in order to design an organisational strategy and rise in a personal capacity to meet their business goals. In many ways, executives face a choice: continue to manage in the same way and struggle with issues that produce the same meagre results, or step into a new path of leadership through education.
