The University of South Africa (UNISA) has appointed its first female vice-chancellor. This comes after the UNISA Council conducted a selection process to find a candidate fit for the job.

On Thursday 5 November, matric learners across the country sat to write their first exams at 9am and 2pm. The Basic Education Department said the exams got off to a smooth start.

After months of preparation, many learners across the country have started their final matric exams today with English Home Language.

Candidates who test positive for Covid-19 will be allowed to write the final matric exams. This follows a petition which called for the Department of Basic Education to review exam protocols.
