Cosatu refused entry to Zimbabawe

The delegation from the trade union federation Cosatu, lead by Secretary General Zwelinzima Vavi, was refused entry into Zimbabwe on arrival at the airport in Harare.

According to Vavi, the delegation were served with notices on their arrival informing them that they were refused leave to enter Zimbabawe in terms of the country's Immigration Act.

Vavi told SABC Radio that the security personel who served them with the notices were, "very polite" but did not give any explanation for their actions.

The delegation were to board the next flight back to South Africa but according to Vavi would still meet with the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, "come rain or shine".
