Loadshedding has been a permanent fixture in the lives of South Africans for the past two weeks as Eskom flipped the switch between various stages over the past 14 days.
Eskom has announced stage 2 loadshedding will continue this week between 17:00 and 22:00. The power utility has warned that depending on generation capacity, the stage of power cuts could be adjusted.
They explained, “While there may be instances where loadshedding might need to be implemented outside of these hours, as far as possible Eskom will endeavour to limit the implementation of loadshedding to the evening peak in order to limit the impact of the capacity shortages on the public ''.
Eskom is appealing to all South Africans to help limit the impact of load shedding by reducing the usage of electricity and to switch off all non-essential items.
Approximately 14 992 MW of capacity is unavailable due to unplanned breakdowns while 3 028 MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance.
