Education Assistants Given New Application Method & Deadline Extension
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has announced they will be extending the deadline for the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI). The new closing date will be on Sunday, 10 October 2021.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has announced they will be extending the deadline for the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI). This extension will allow for more applicants to submit their applications to be considered for education assistant posts
The new closing date for the initiative will be on Sunday, 10 October 2021.
The DBE has made it possible for applicants to now apply at https://sayouth.me/DBE. They say this new website will ensure that applicants only use around 3mb of data to apply.
The initiative by the DBE is part of the Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES). This provides young people between the age of 18 and 35 who are unemployed, not part of any education/training and do not receive any social grants with an opportunity to gain experience. Young people with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.
The DBE says they have received more than 2.7 million applications from 475 918 young people since opening applications in September.
All successful candidates will be placed in schools for 5 months, from 1 November 2021 to 31 March 2022.
All application forms must be submitted online and no walk-in applications will be allowed. This in an effort to minimize the spread of Covid-19.

Fill in the required information
Search for the name of the school closest to you/click on the dropdown arrow and select the school
Ensure all your information is correct and click submit
Applicants may be placed in one of the following positions
Education Assistant - Curriculum
Education Assistant - ICT/e-Cadres
Education Assistant - Reading Champions
General School Assistant - Child & Youth Care Worker
General School Assistant - Handyman (no matric required)
General School Assistant – Sports and Enrichment Agent (no matric required)
Should you be shortlisted for a position, you will be asked to provide the following documents
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Testimonials (former school, local chief, church leader, etc)
Police clearance certificates
Affidavit/Declaration by applicant stating he/she has no criminal record while awaiting the Police clearance
Certified qualifications such as Matric, (where applicable: NQF Level 4)
Qualification certificate, for Education Assistant applicants with NQF level 6 and 7 an added advantage)
Certified copy of identity document/ passport
