Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana has announced the review of sectoral determination for the farming industry.
Spokesperson Page Boikanyo said the Employment Conditions Commission (ECC), that advises the minister on employment conditions, would conduct public hearings to review among other things, the demarcation of the two-tier wage system.
The system differentiates between employers with an average annual household income of R24 000 or less.
"Minister Mdladlana said other vital aspects of the determination to be reviewed include three year wage increases in the context of current droughts; the 27 hours provision within the sectoral determination and the impact of labour tenancy on the farm workers," said Mr Boikanyo.
The department will hold hearings from 14 to 25 February in all the provinces.
