The South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released a statement announcing the deadline for changing the SRD grant payment method. The 10th of September 2021 will be the last day on which applicants can change the payment method.
SASSA says that if applicants provide their banking details, they can access their money at their bank. They say it’s the most convenient and quickest way to receive your R350 SRD grant.
Last month SASSA spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi encouraged R350 SRD grant applicants to provide their banking accounts as the prefered method for receiving their grant. This will result in the faster processing of grants resulting in applicants receiving their grants more quickly.
Applicants who do not provide their banking details will have to collect their grants at the post office. They are encouraged to wait for an SMS notifying them that their money is available for collection.
The post office does not pay R350 SRD grants out on days where other social grants are being paid. These grants include child support, disability and old age grants. Letsatsi explained that SASSA does not want the payment of the various grants to clash.
Recipients of child support grants who have been approved for the R350 SRD grant will receive their money via their SASSA cards. Applicants who receive their grants via their SASSA card can access the money at merchants or bank ATM’s. They can also use their SASSA cards to pay for purchases at certain shops.
