The Gauteng Education Department has opened applications for 2022 online school admissions. The admissions process will be done in two phases, with phase 1 being the first to open.
Applications submitted in phase 1 are open to learners who are currently in grade 7. This phase of applications will remain open until 3 September 2021.
Phase 2 of the 2022 admission period will then begin on 13 September and close on 8 October 2021. This phase will cater to learners who are currently not in grade 7 and not in public schools, but wish to apply to be in grade 8 in the 2022 academic year.
Applications can be done on the Gauteng Education Department website: https://www.gdeadmissions.gov.za/
Parents have been advised to apply to a maximum of 5 schools and to apply to schools with feeder zones that cover their home address.
There will also be decentralised Walk-in Centres where parents can be assisted to make applications from 08:00 to 16:00.
Part of the application process also includes supplying supporting documents, which parents will have to submit to schools 7 days after applying.
Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi is confident that opening applications in phases will allow the department to handle more queries.
"We are pleased with this arrangement because it will make things easier. We can respond to calls and we can respond to queries"
