The application period for phase 4 of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) is now open. The initiative which aims to tackle youth unemployment is set to create more than 200,000 job opportunities for unemployed youth.
Successful applicants will work at schools in their local communities as Education Assistants of General School Assistants. Youth will need to have passed matric to work as education assistants. General school assistants do not require any academic qualifications.

The application period will be open for a total of three weeks and is just the first part of the process to determine who will be selected to work as teaching assistants during phase 4.

Interviews with candidates will take place between November and December 2022
Successful candidates will begin work in February 2022
Youth must be between the ages of 18 and 34 years old when they apply. They must live within a 5 km radius of the school or a 30 km radius if it is a small, micro or farm school.
Successful candidates will receive a stipend of R4 081 per month. They will have 1% of their monthly remuneration deducted for Unemployment Insurance Fund contributions.
