The University of South Africa (Unisa) has announced additional dates for physical graduation ceremonies which will be resumed later this month.

Graduation ceremonies will commence at the university’s campuses on 27 June and will run until 5 August 2022. Students who are graduating will receive personalised invitations to the special ceremonies.

  • First series: Polokwane, 27 and 28 June 2022
  • Second series:  Muckleneuk Campus (Tshwane), 1 to 8 July 2022
  • Third series: Cape Town, 11 to 13 July 2022
  • Fourth series: Durban (1), 18 to 22 July 2022
  • Fifth series: East London, 27 and 28 July 2022
  • Sixth series: Durban (2), 1 to 5 August 2022

The university has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the unforeseen postponement of the previous graduation ceremonies which were postponed indefinitely in March as protests took place at the University.

The disruption to the graduation ceremonies was carried out by protesting members of the National Education, Health, and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU). It is reported that the protest was sparked after a disputed salary adjustment agreement between workers and the university.
