HR making strides in industry

The development and introduction of skilled labour as well as the need to further "professionalise? HR and payroll are issues that industry regulatory bodies are aware of. Payroll regulators, like the South African Payroll Association, are excited about progress that has been made.

Payroll administrators have to be alert to changes within legislation and regulation as prescribed by corporate governance. In addition to meticulous attention to financial management, inclusive of tax, administrators must also understand the impact of HR development on the business and related systems.

According to Accsys, by facilitating practical, "hands-on? training and offering in-house experience, businesses are able to play a strategic role in assisting their employees to grow their formal skill set which is then more likely to be aligned to the company?s objectives.

"The HR and payroll industry is in need of more skilled people. The Accsys course makes a difference to the industry by ensuring people understand the broader vision of the logistics of payroll outside of specific knowledge of how software works,' says Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys.
