The President has spoken to the country again about the Covid-19 pandemic as it reaches it's tenth month in the country.
There are now more than 15 000 people in South African hospitals because of Covid-19.
He confirmed that the large increase in cases is largely driven by the variant V501.02. The variant tends to be much more transmissable.
The first priotrity he stressed was that we must do everything we can to slow the rate of spread of the virus.
He highlighted funerals as being identified time and time again as superspreader events. Many of those who are now passing away became infected at funerals. Funerals have become a death trap. "For now it is best to stay safer and stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary to be at the funeral".
