The University of South Africa (Unisa) has announced that graduation ceremonies will resume later this month. The university was forced to postpone several graduation ceremonies due to protest action taking place at the venues.
Unisa’s first series of graduations will take place in Polokwane on 27 and 28 June 2022. This will be followed by the second series of graduation ceremonies at the Muckleneuk Campus in Tshwane from 1 to 8 July 2022. The third series of graduations will commence on 11 July 2022 and conclude on 13 July 2022 in Cape Town.
“Arrangements for ceremonies in other regions will be communicated in due course” added the university.
Unisa said students will receive personalised invitations to their graduation ceremonies.
“The university apologises more profusely for the inconvenience caused by the postponement of the previous graduation ceremonies” concluded Unisa.
Graduation ceremonies in March were postponed indefinitely as protests took place at the University.
The disruption to the graduation ceremonies was carried out by protesting members of the National Education, Health, and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU). It is reported that the protest was sparked after the university pulled out of a salary adjustment agreement with workers.
