First year students who need financial assistance in 2017 can apply directly to the National Student financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
Students must apply before 30 November in order to be considered for funding.
NSFAS targets students who are financially disadvantaged and have a proven academic record. This government funded entity administers loans and bursaries to students who have qualified to study at public TVET Colleges and universities.
Only those who meet the requirements set out in the administration guidelines will be eligible to receive financial support.
First time applicants will be expected to undergo a 'means test' to determine if they meet the criteria.
