The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) broke the bad news on Tuesday, announcing a one-cent increase in both grades of 93 and 95 ULP and LRP (Unleaded and Lead Replacement) petrol in Gauteng.
From Wednesday onwards, the following price adjusts will be in place.
A litre of 95 ULP in Gauteng, which currently costs R15.17, will increase to R15.18 a litre.
Petrol 93: increase of 1 cent per litre
Petrol 95: increase of 1 cent per litre
Diesel 0.05%: decrease of 21 cents per litre
Diesel 0.005%: decrease of 21 cents per litre
Illuminating paraffin: decrease of 26 cents per litre
Illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) will decrease by 35 cents
Exactly a year earlier, on the 2nd of September 2019, the petrol price increased by 11 cents pushing the price of petrol to R16.03 per litre.
The DMRE said the average international product prices for petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased during the period under review.
