Reviewing salary trends in engineering, construction sector

South African labour market indicator, the CareerJunction Index (CJI) recently launched trends of salaries in South Africa to provide career seekers with an idea of what is being offered for various professions on the job market.

Salary trends are based on the latest 2011 salary offerings on the popular job board CareerJunction and serve as an indicator of salary offerings for various professions.

Here are the 2012 salary trends for the Engineering, Construction and Mining Industries:

Regional Salary Differences

The salary scale below demonstrates the regional percentage difference in salary offerings within the Engineering sector. Percentages can be used to calculate location specific salaries across various occupations (as outlined above).

Results indicate that Gauteng pays the best, followed by the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

The salary scale below demonstrates the regional percentage difference in salary offerings within the Building and Construction sector. Percentages can be used to calculate location specific salaries across various occupations (as outlined above).

Regional Salary Differences

The salary scale below demonstrates the regional percentage difference in salary offerings within the Mining sector. Percentages can be used to calculate location specific salaries across various occupations (as outlined above).

Results indicate that the North West pays the best due to high levels of demand for labour. This is followed by Gauteng, Mpumalanga and the Western Cape.
