Competence Performance Consulting (CPC), recently assisted nine employees at SA Breweries Newlands, fast-track their National Occupational Qualification in Food and Beverage Packaging Operations through a tailor-made RPL learnership programme.
“An accelerated learning process was developed by Competence Performance Consulting (CPC) and implemented in co-operation with the SA Breweries management team” ,says Debbie Turner, Managing Director of Competence Performance Consulting.
“While gaining the qualification can typically take up to 18 months of study, using Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) reduced the timing to a cost-effective six months including the complete assessment process. The RPL financial investment is 30-50% less than the traditional learnership approach.”
Their training was funded by a discretionary employed-learner grant from Foodbev SETA.
“This new streamlined approach according to the QCTO policy and procedure will be campaigned and promoted by all involved in the pilot project.”
The graduates received their NQF3 Certificate of accomplishment at a graduation ceremony held at the SAB offices.
“Being recognized for what you've been doing at work is fundamental” ,newly graduated Thozama Tyakume reflected after the ceremony. He said that the RPL process had many challenges especially for professionals who had multiple roles to play such as father, husband, employee and student. But it was all worth it. “Being able to say I'm qualified is a good feeling.”
