More than 10 million people have been approved for payment for the R350 grant, however, many are yet to receive their money.

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant was first introduced to assist unemployed individuals during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The grant was reintroduced in August 2021 and was scheduled to end in March 2022.

The grant was recently extended for a further 12 months by President Cyril Ramphosa and is scheduled to come to an end in March 2023.

However, some clients who were approved for payment for the R350 grant have still not received their money for a number of months.

Sassa explained “your bank account is not yet verified. Once that is done, you will receive all your outstanding payments in order.”
