Regenesys Management presents "Leadership and Empowerment - Lessons from Bateman Africa' by Mzikayise Theo Qabaka, Managing Director of Bateman Africa.
Theo Qabaka will be the guest speaker at the first Regenesys Leadership Seminars on Tuesday, 23 May 2006 from 7h00 until 9h00.
The seminar will focus on the important lessons learnt by Bateman Africa as they have taken on the empowerment mantle.
Qabaka has been associated with the mining and engineering industry for the more than 20 years.
After graduating from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1986, he worked for De Beers, Anglo American and Shell SA in various capacities.
For the past 20 years, Qabaka has worked exclusively in the field of Metallurgy, being one of the first black engineers to make his mark in an arena that traditionally was dominated by whites.
A quiet but determined person by nature, Qabaka does not believe in black tokenism and is an example of a leader who understands his business thoroughly and leads accordingly.
Having worked in production, projects and research in the diamond, gold, coal, base metal and heavy minerals sector, his experience is varied and extensive.
Prior to joining Bateman Africa, he served in similar roles at New Diamond Corporation and Vuwani Diamond Mining. He has also held positions as General Manager at Anglogold?s West Wits and Free State surface operations.
The Leadership Seminars are part of Regenesys? strategy of raising awareness and debate around what good leaders do.
