Students set up to win R25 000 cash

57 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college students from around South Africa have been named semi-finalists in the ABSA Turbo TVET Competition.

These budding business owners downloaded the Awethu Project App, are using it to become financially independent entrepreneurs and now stand the chance to walk away with some serious cash to grow their business!

But that’s not all, over the past four months, each of these students attended business growth sessions, hosted by Awethu Project and banking giant Absa.

“These sessions were aimed at helping the students start or grow their businesses,” explains Yusuf Randera-Rees, Co-founder and CEO of the Awethu Project.

From there, each of the students were encouraged to download the Awethu App. Made possible by Absa, this award-winning solution is a digital coach on your phone.

Randera-Rees says, “The free App puts essential training and tools into the hands of not only the TVET students, but all aspiring entrepreneurs.”

He adds, “The best part is that the App offers a level of daily support that the 7500+ current users would not have otherwise had access to.”

The 58 semi-finalists have been invited to an exclusive networking session where they will meet and learn from like-minded entrepreneurs.

Leaders from this stage will be given individual in-person business coaching that is tailor-made to their business, and then be given the chance to pitch for a grand prize of up to R25 000 plus ongoing business coaching from the Awethu Project!
