Unisa has extended applications for master's and doctoral degrees. Registrations opened on 5 January 2021.

The new closing date for master's and doctoral registration is now 30 April 2021.

Unisa said some exceptions may apply for first time registering students as well as re-registering Unisa students.

  • First-time registering students are allowed to register outside of the approved registration dates.
  • Re-registering Unisa students may only register during the prescribed registration period.

Students have been encouraged to register online, as Unisa committed itself to fully doing online registrations.

"Due to the resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic in South Africa, all semester 1 and year module registrations for the 2021 academic year must be submitted online. All Unisa's self-help registration facilities countrywide will be unavailable during the upcoming registration period." said Unisa.

Only a limited number of students with serious registration issues will be allowed to visit Unisa's offices.

Returning students will be required to use the booking app to book an appointment before visiting a Unisa office.

Unisa has advised students who get errors during the application process to not panic, but to simply follow corrections from the error message instead.

"If you encounter any problems with your online registration, please read the error message carefully and correct your selection of modules before submitting your registration. This will enable the university to process your registration timeously."

Students with disabilities can contact the ARCSWiD office on 012 429 6257 or 012 429 2552 or email Ms Vukati Ndlovu at [email protected].

Registration for undergraduate students is now closed, as students were given until 31 March to register.

"All registrations and additions, which are received by the closing date of 31 March 2021, will be processed and finalised, provided that the initial minimum amount is also received by the university by 31 March 2021.

Students who received and accepted an offer for the 2021 academic year, but do not register for 2021, will need to re-apply for admission from September 2021 for the 2022 academic year."
