Graduation is a culmination of years of hard work, sacrifice and perseverance to obtain a qualification.
However, what was meant to be a day of celebration for students from the University of South Africa (Unisa) quickly turned into despair as students were unable to walk across the podium after a protest occurred at the graduation venue.
What followed was weeks of uncertainty as the university postponed several graduation ceremonies which left students and their families in limbo.
Last week Unisa commenced with graduation ceremonies, however, students whose graduation ceremonies were disrupted or postponed still did not know when they will graduate.
By the end of 7 April 2022, these students will receive the new date of their graduation ceremonies confirmed by Unisa.
The University said, “Unisa’s management approved the new dates for all Graduation Ceremonies that were postponed, and the University is in the process of communicating these dates to all identified students via SMS messages and to their myLife E-mail addresses. The process of communication will be concluded by 7 April 2022”.
“The University apologises for any inconvenience caused and congratulates all students on the completion of their qualification” concluded Unisa.
