When Gauteng School Online Admissions Will Open

Technology has evolved the way we conduct daily tasks and the days of approaching schools directly for learner placement are no longer standard practice in many of South Africa’s provinces.

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has announced the opening date for online applications for parents with children beginning Grade 1 and Grade 8 for next year.

The online application system will go live on 22 July 2022. This leaves parents with around two months to prepare by researching the schools they will apply to and getting together all the documentation they may need when applying.

Last year, the GDE revealed that around 79 000 applications were received by the department on the first day of applications being opened.

MEC for Education and Youth Development in Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi called on parents to note this important date.

He said, “If your child will be in Grade 1 or 8 next year (2023) kindly note that our online admissions system will go live on the 22nd of July 2022. Kindly diarise this important date”.

Its important to note that if you are applying for Grade R placement, you must approach the school directly.
