Who is considered a high risk patient?

While the COVID-19 virus can infect anyone regardless of age, race, or gender - doctors and scientists have established that certain groups of the population are more likely to become seriously ill or succumb to the virus.

  • are severely overweight (BMI of 40+),
  • smoke cigarettes, or
  • are immunocompromised or suffer from pre-existing medical conditions Ex. high blood pressure, heart disease, moderate to severe asthma or other lung diseases, cancer, diabetes, or uncontrolled HIV or AIDS.
