The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has assured beneficiaries of the R350 grant that they will be paid from the middle of June 2022. This comes after almost three months of them not receiving any money from Sassa.

At the end of April 2022, all clients had to reapply for the R350 grant after the legislation under which the grant was provided changed. The change in legislation also resulted in adjustments being made to the qualifying criteria for the grant.

Will Sassa Make Double Payments For Months R350 Grant Beneficiaries Were Not Paid?

Sassa will not make double payments for the months that have passed since April 2022. However, grant beneficiaries will be paid the money that is owed to them.

The agency explained, “The payments will not be done together, but will be done month by month. More than one payment may be made in a month, but no one will receive double payment in amount.”

Sassa added that they will process multiple R350 grant payments in a month until the backlog is finalised. Once the backlog is finalised, they will resume paying one R350 grant payment per beneficiary every month.
