A man suspected of armed robbery has been arrested after police were tipped off by an SMS sent to the newly launched Crime Line, initiated by Primedia. National Police spokesperson Sally de Beer, confirmed that the Crime Line had helped police catch their first suspect. The man was arrested in Rustenburg in the North West.

Primedia Limited, with the support of the police, has launched a groundbreaking anti-crime initiative whereby members of the public can SMS a tip-off on suspected crime to the number 32211. Each SMS will cost R1 - and can be sent 24 hours a day.
