Because of the reduction in new cases of Covid-19 the government relaxed the national lockdown to level 1 which means that there will be more movement and activity allowed. However President Cyril Ramaphosa reiterated that there are still restrictions in place and we cannot relax in social distancing and other protective measures. |

The health sector will receive more funding towards Covid-19 interventions. Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni announced this during the 2021 Budget Speech. An additional R8 billion will be allocated to provincial health departments along with the R20 billion the sector will receive. |

Phase 1 of the vaccination programme is in progress, and government plans to continue with the rest of the rollout plan as more vaccines are expected to arrive. Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize said 52 647 health care workers have already been vaccinated under the Sisonke programme. |
