President Zuma and his Cabinet will convene in Pretoria this week for their first Lekgotla, which will deal with adopting a new framework for government - closely aligned with the electoral mandate discussed in the manifesto.

President Jacob Zuma has picked the officials who will aid and advise him in the decisions he will make during his term of office - among them, Charles Nqakula, who has been appointed Political Adviser and Mandisi Mpahlwa, who is the President's Economic Adviser.

Council of Higher Education CEO, Dr Cherly De Larey, has welcomed the split in ministries and pledged her faith in their respective leaders. Meanwhile, SADTU spokesperson John Lewis, said teachers countrywide are also in support of splitting the ministries, as the old department was "far too large."
