You’ve secured a solid job, so there’s no longer any real reason to work on your skills development, right? Wrong! If you want to progress in your career, or simply stay relevant in your current job, then skills development should always be front of mind!

The 78,2% matric pass rate for 2013 is the highest pass rate in 20 years.
However, many school leavers have been left high and dry as South Africa?s
public universities are swamped by large numbers of applicants.

A World Bank survey has found that despite the massive skills shortage that local companies are facing, they have not increased their spending on skills training. Liza van Wyk explains that her training organisations find too much focus on management training and not enough investment in improving the skills profile of essential support services staff.

More then 150 municipal workers in the Greater Letaba municipality in Limpopo will receive basic training in typing and computer, first aid, communication, house-building, plumbing and roads and signage
