Social grants ensure that millions of vulnerable South Africans can survive every month. Sassa confirmed grant payments for the first month of 2026. 

As a new month begins, millions of people will receive social grant payments. Sassa has commenced with the January 2026 grant payments.

Thousands of students applied for NSFAS bursaries but have been rejected from receiving funding. These students can submit NSFAS appeals. 

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed that funding decisions have now been finalised for all valid applications received for the 2026 academic year.
