Registration for the 2025 May/June Senior Certificate (SC) and National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations is now open. Matric candidates can register to rewrite their exams for the midyear session in 2025.
The Department of Education has confirmed that the registration period opens on 1 October 2024 and closes on 7 February 2025.
2025 SC/NSC May/June Exam Registration Dates
The registration period for the 2025 SC and NSC May/June exams will run from 1 October 2024 until 7 February 2025.

While NSC candidates can also register to rewrite their exams during the 2024 November session, SC candidates are only eligible to rewrite their exams in the 2025 May/June session.
Senior Certificate Exam Eligibility
Senior Certificate candidates are only allowed to rewrite their exams during the May/June 2025 period. It is important to note that the February/March supplementary exams have been discontinued. Therefore, the May/June 2025 exams will be the first opportunity for candidates seeking to improve their matric results.
Phase-Out of February/March Supplementary Exams
The February/March supplementary exams have been phased out and are no longer available. In their place, candidates can rewrite or complete outstanding exams during the May/June session. The deadline for registration for the 2025 May/June exams is 7 February 2025.
Registration Process
Senior Certificate candidates can register online for the 2025 May/June exams. However, National Senior Certificate students must visit their nearest District Office to complete their registration.
