Millions of people are expected to receive Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments from the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) in April 2025. If you previously cancelled your SRD grant application but now need financial support, you can reinstate your application online.
Steps To Reinstate Your Cancelled SRD Grant Application
- Step 1: Visit https://srd.sassa.gov.za
- Step 2: Click on the tab labelled ‘Reinstate my cancelled application’
- Step 3: Enter your ID number and mobile number, then click on “Send PIN”
- Step 4: You will receive a One-Time Pin (OTP) via SMS
- Step 5: Enter the OTP and click “Verify”
- Step 6: Select a reason for reinstating your application (options include: Cancelled in error, No longer have income, Other)
- Step 7: A confirmation message will appear: “Are you sure you want to reinstate the grant?”
- Step 8: Click “Yes” to complete the reinstatement process
SRD Grant Eligibility Criteria for April 2025
To qualify for the SRD grant, you must:
- Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or special permit holder
- Not be receiving other forms of government support such as Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) benefits or NSFAS bursaries
- Have a bank account balance below R624
If you no longer meet the eligibility criteria, you can cancel your SRD grant application for April 2025 through the Sassa online portal.
