Payments for the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant are made in various ways, depending on the payment method selected by applicants.
New and existing applicants have the option to submit their banking details if they wish to receive money directly in their bank accounts.
This is how you can submit your banking details as a new or existing applicant:
New Applicants (with personal bank accounts)
- Choose your bank name
- Provide account number
- Provide branch name
- Provide account type
- Agree to terms and conditions
- Submit banking details
Existing applicants (confirming existing banking details)
- Agree to Terms and Conditions
- Click 'submit'
Applicants are allowed to change their preferred method of payment on any day of the month. "Beneficiaries of the Covid-19 grant are encouraged to use their bank accounts to receive this grant to avoid overcrowding at the post offices.
Banking details can now be changed anytime you wish to and not on certain weeks like it used to be the case before." SASSA explained.
As of 1 October, a total of 5.8 million grants have been paid out to successful applicants who applied for the grant. The R350 grant was reintroduced in August 2021 and will be in place until March 2022.
Successful applicants will continue to receive the grant as long as they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
