With the release of the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results just around the corner, thousands of Grade 12 learners are eagerly awaiting their fate. Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube will announce the overall pass rate on Monday, 13 January 2025, with individual results available to learners on Tuesday, 14 January 2025.
Before the eagerly anticipated results day, a series of crucial steps take place. The marking of over 732,000 full-time exam papers, conducted by 55,053 markers across 188 centres, was completed in December 2024.
Standardisation: Ensuring Fairness and Accuracy
A key stage in this process is the standardisation of results. This involves a rigorous review by education officials and Umalusi, the quality assurance body for South African qualifications.

The National Education Investigation and Evaluation Council (NEIC) met on 28 December 2024, to investigate any exam irregularities and ensure the integrity of the results.
