Grant Increases Scheduled for April
Sassa grant increases are implemented twice a year, typically in April and October, following the annual budget speech delivered by the Minister of Finance.
The next scheduled grant increase is set to take effect on 1 April 2025.
Recent Grant Adjustment
The most recent increase, implemented on 1 October 2024, saw an R10 increase for the Old-Age Pension, Disability, Care Dependency, and War Veterans grants.
The SRD Grant
The Social Relief of Distress grant is not expected to increase when other social grant values go up. This is because the SRD grant is still classified as a temporary grant.
When the grant was introduced, its value was R350. It only received one increase in the three years of its implementation. This increment was R20.
