Some applicants of the R350 grant have been approved, but have not yet received their payments. If you are one of these applicants, SASSA has explained why this could be the case.
A number of applicants of the R350 grant have taken to Twitter to complain about not receiving payments, despite being told that they qualify and have been approved.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has responded to a number of complaints submitted by applicants, saying that there are a number of reasons why some applicants have not yet been paid.
One reason that SASSA has identified as the cause for late and delayed payments is linked to issues with the banking details provided by applicants.
"Unpayment reasons differ from applicant to applicant. Some have provided wrong bank details/contact numbers if they chose the cash send option.
Others keep updating their banking details which delays their social grant payments." SASSA also explained the reason behind why some applicants, who were approved in August and September, have still not received their payments.
"This category has, unfortunately, not been paid as yet due to the fact that SASSA had to go through a procurement process to use this payment method with the banks, and National Treasury will shortly finalise this procurement process."
Approved applicants have been urged to keep their payment details up to date, to ensure swift payment once the grant is ready to be paid out.
SASSA has encouraged applicants of the grant to choose to receive their grant via their bank accounts. This, according to SASSA, is a more efficient process, compared to the other payment options available to grant beneficiaries.
