The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed the R350 grant payment dates for November 2023. This information is vital for millions of vulnerable people currently receiving the grant as they now know when to expect their grant payment.
In November, R350 grants will be paid to approved applicants from 24 November 2023 to 30 November 2023.
Payments (for clients who are approved for the month of November 2023) will be processed from 24-30 November 2023.
It's important to note that while grant payments are scheduled to be processed between these dates, the money may only reflect in the SRD grant beneficiary’s bank account a few days later.
During that week, clients are encouraged to view their status on the SRD website for the exact date that the payment will reflect in their bank accounts. Funds will take about 2-3 working days to reflect in the client’s account after payment has been processed.
Why Sassa Conducts R350 Grant Verification Checks
To qualify for the R350 grant, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria. They should be South African citizens residing within the country's borders. Permanent residents and special permit holders are also eligible.
Applicants should not receive support from the South African government, state entities, the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), or the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). Additionally, their bank account balance must not exceed R624, as income for the R350 grant.
Verification Processes For R350 Grant Eligibility
Sassa employs various verification methods in collaboration with state entities, government departments, and banks. The Department of Home Affairs verifies identity numbers and citizenship, while the Department of Treasury and the chosen bank verify income.
The timeframe for bank verification varies, and the information is transmitted between departments and banks until it reaches Sassa for grant payment facilitation.
Checking The Status Of Your R350 Grant Application
Sassa advises grant beneficiaries to perform a sassa status check for updates on their R350 grant payment. If an application is rejected, applicants can submit an appeal to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).
Extension Of R350 Grant Payments
Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced a 12-month extension of the R350 grant in November, providing continued support until March 2025. Originally set to conclude in March 2024, the extension ensures that eligible individuals will receive R350 payments throughout the extension period.
