How to Apply for the R370 Sassa Grant

To apply for the SRD (Social Relief of Distress) grant:

  1. Visit the official SRD grant website.

  2. Choose your citizenship status at the bottom of the page.

  3. Click the yellow bar: "Click here to apply online."

  4. Enter your mobile number. Click "Send SMS" to receive an OTP.

  5. Use the OTP to verify your number.

  6. Follow the prompts to complete your application.

Who Qualifies for the R370 Grant

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be South African and aged 18–60.

  • Not receive other government support, including UIF or NSFAS bursaries.

  • Have less than R624 in their bank account. If your balance exceeds this, your application may be rejected.

How to Check Your Sassa Status

To track your application:

  1. Go to the Sassa SRD website.

  2. Find the "Application Status" section.

  3. Enter your ID and mobile number.

  4. Verify with an OTP.

  5. View your status.

Approved applicants can receive SRD payments via direct deposit or at selected retailers: Pick n Pay, Boxer, Checkers, USave, Shoprite, OK, and Spar.
