Covid-19 Temperature Check

Schools in Kwa-Zula Natal have seen an increase in the number of Covid-19 infections among teachers, support staff and students. The province has recorded more than 1100 reported cases in 350 schools in the past 3 weeks.

Matriculates are encouraged to vaccinate prior the examinations

According to the Department of Health, more than 88 000 young people between the ages of 18 and 34 have been vaccinated since vaccinations opened for the age group on 20 August. The health department says over 50 000 people were vaccinated on the first day, making this a high record for the province.

Residents Without Water

Residents from various communities around Gauteng are protesting outside Rand Water Resivor in Johannesburg. They have been without water for the past few days. Areas affected by the water cuts include municipalities in Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane.

Covid-19 Mask

Schools in the Northern Cape have reported 339 new Covid-19 cases among teachers, learners and support staff over the last week. This has led to the closure of six schools in the province.

South African Post Office

The South African Post Office (SAPO) has told Sassa grant recipients to not pay for a place at the front of the line at the post office. This is illegal and if anybody asks you for payment to jump the queue, you should not give them any money.

Impact of Covid-19 on tourism

The fourth wave of Covid-19 infections could be on its way. Experts say the 4th wave of infections could start by November and last around 75 Days. The wave could also be driven by a new variant.

New Covid-19 Variant Detected

A recent study has detected a new Covid-19 variant in South Africa. The C.1.2 variant has been detected in multiple provinces in South Africa. The virus has been found in several South African provinces as well as in parts of Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceana(New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Samoa).

SASSA office in Mossel Bay

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has caught several government workers attempting to apply for the Special Covid-19 R350 social relief grant. They caught these government workers after cross-referencing their applications with the government employee database.

Motorists can breathe a sigh of relief after the Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula announced that drivers license renewals will be extended to the end of March 2022. The grace period for motorists to renew their expired drivers’ licence cards was to conclude on 31 August 2021.

Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga

Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, has said that the October school holidays will not be scrapped despite the loss of learning time due to Covid-19. She has described the loss of learning time as concerning.
