The final countdown has begun with only a week left before this year?s matriculants begin writing their final exams. Most provincial education departments have said they are more than prepared for the good results from the second group of matriculants to write exams based on the National Curriculum Statement.

The National Student Financial Aid has expressed their support for the review set up by Minister Blade Nzimande. A Ministerial Committee will investigate ways in which NSFAS can be supported to offer greater support to needy students.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme is currently under review by a commission answerable to Higher Education and Training Minister, Dr Nzimande. According to the Minister, demands on the NSFAS exceed available resources, and it is not able to grant adequate access to learners.
