South Africa has marked one year since recording the first case of Covid-19. Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize said the past year has been tough for government.  


The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) has started processing Covid-19 TERS applications.  This comes after the President announced an extension for the relief scheme.

Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni announced that the gross tax revenue will be lower this year compared to what was projected in the 2020 budget. 


South Africa's unemployment rate has increased by 1.7% from the third quarter of 2020. 


The second batch of Johnson&Johnson vaccines will be arriving this week, following the recent start of the first phase of the vaccine rollout. 


Applications for the Temporary Employee/Employer Relief Scheme (TERS) will reopen in March. This comes after the President announced that the relief scheme would be extended for sectors affected by the Covid-19 lockdown.

The first 80 000 doses of the Johnson&Johnson vaccine has officially arrived in South Africa. The vaccine landed at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday evening.
