SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus which causes COVID-19, has infected almost 2.5 million people around the world and claimed 170,000 lives. But some people don’t even get symptoms. Recent studies suggest as many as 80% or more of those infected are “silent carriers”, showing no or very mild symptoms.
The Western Cape Premier isn't enjoying the label of 'epicentre' being placed on the Western Cape. The province is well prepared and operating smoothly and openly in its battle against Covid-19, seems to be Alan Winde's argument. But the province's 1792 active cases are more than half of the country's total so the attention is probably justified. The Western Cape recently identified the CT Convention Centre as an 800 bed Covid-19 hospital as it prepares for the surge which is coming.
