The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has released its National Senior Certificate Certificate(NSC) Examination timetable for 2021. IEB schools will also not write exams on 1 November 2021, due to the local government elections. 


Professor Servaas van der Berg from Stellenboach University says it is estimated that it takes a high school ten years to produce a matriculant. He says that this statistic does not mean that all matriculants spend 10 years in high school, but rather that matriculants are spending more years in high school than required.


Many students worry that if they do not have a matric certificate their further studies, and therefore their careers, are over.  However, there are plenty of qualifications and short courses you can study without matric. 


Matric results are out and you might be wanting to get your exam scripts re-marked or rechecked. You can do that by registering!


The release of matric results is typically a high stakes time for many students and their parents, but pandemic disruptions throughout 2020 are adding extra angst. This week, the anticipation will be over, but getting these final school marks in black and white can spiral some young South Africans, and their families, into despair and crisis.


The marking of matric results has been going well for the Department of Basic Education. The Department held a live briefing to give updates about the process that was initially scheduled to end on 22 January 2021. 


More than 1000 teachers have quit marking, nationwide. There has been some concern about the Gauteng Department of Education, as the province that has lost the most exam markers. 


You can now register for the 2021 National Senior Certificate if you are an adult who qualifies to write the matric exam. 


The marking of matric exam papers kicked off on Monday. More than 4 million scripts will be marked before 22 January 2021. 


SABC Education has partnered with the Department of Basic Education to launch a Matric Results service. Candidates will be able to access their results across various platforms.


Now that matric exams are out of the way, teachers have started marking papers written by more than 1 million candidates this year. Results are set to be released on 23 February 2021. 


The Matric Class of 2020 has been through so many challenges this year, which is why they deserve for the marking of their exams to run smoothly.


Many people feel that having the Matric Class of 2020 rewrite maths and physics paper 2 would not be beneficial to them, however the DBE believes that it would not be in their best interest.


On Thursday 5 November, matric learners across the country sat to write their first exams at 9am and 2pm. The Basic Education Department said the exams got off to a smooth start. 


After months of preparation, many learners across the country have started their final matric exams today with English Home Language. 


Candidates who test positive for Covid-19 will be allowed to write the final matric exams. This follows a petition which called for the Department of Basic Education to review exam protocols.
