The government has warned that there will be no further extensions for citizens wanting to renew their driver’s licence after the latest grace period extension.

 


At the midpoint of March 2022, there were more than 1.5 million backlogs related to driver's license cards in South Africa. A large contributor to these backlogs was due to the country’s single machine being away for repairs.


Renewing your drivers licence in South Africa has become a challenge in recent years due to a number of factors. The Department of Transport have introduced a number of measures to help tackle the issues. 


Motorists will be breathing a sigh of relief as the Minister of Transport made an announcement related to the driver's licence renewal period.


The world is changing so naturally the way we do things will change as well. This is true when it comes to renewing your vehicle licence disc.


As people travel around South Africa, whether it be to a holiday destination or simply going home, drivers are urged to be safe as this time of year is notorious for increased road accidents. 


Public holidays and the festive season are notorious for an increased number of road accidents and fatalities and despite the Covid-19 pandemic, 2022 is no different. 


Last month the Automobile Association (AA) predicted that the price of fuel could increase by as much as 99c per litre, unfortunately, the increase is much higher than predicted.


South Africans are in for a painful surprise as fuel prices are expected to increase by record numbers in November 2021.


As of September 1 2021, motorists will be paying an extra 4 cents per litre of petrol. This increase has come as a surprise to many as it was predicted that the price of petrol would drop by around 11 c/l. The price of Diesel has decreased by aound 14 cents per litre. 


Motorists can breathe a sigh of relief after the Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula announced that drivers license renewals will be extended to the end of March 2022. The grace period for motorists to renew their expired drivers’ licence cards was to conclude on 31 August 2021.
