More than 10 million people have already downloaded their Covid-19 digital vaccines certificates since it was made available for download last week.

The Department of Health is expanding its Covid-19 vaccination rollout program to include children between the ages of 12 and 17 years old.

The South African government have set a target of vaccinating 70% of the countries adult population by the beginning of December 2021. This target was set to minimise the impact of the 4th wave of Covid-19 infections.

SA Could Soon Vaccinate Children

The Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla has said that the country will look at science and capacity and investigate whether the department will vaccinate children. This will be looked at once most adults have been vaccinated.


The Minister of Health, Dr Joseph Phala said that he hopes that country can reach herd immunity by the end of 2021. Phala hopes that between 60% and70% of South Africa’s adult population will be vaccinated by the end of the year as this would help open the economy and other social activities.
